Hi All From Spirit of Sydney,
Roughly 4 days and nights on the drake, arrived safely.. tough journey with a fair amount of sea sickness, some did better than others!! Pierced through some rough waters on the second night, the boat leaned into it and fought back,,, wind reached 60 knots at one point with up to 5 meter swells… we strapped ourselves into the bunks… Riders on the Storm!! Morning of the 5th day we were welcomed by a Humpback Whale slipping in and out of the water next to the boat. Anchored in a beautiful cove surrounded by glacier and spent the day recovering. Celebration BBQ and some good music before we all went to bed. Great team and great company. More to come.
Written by Dwight on behalf of the crew. Will use this opportunity to tell Melissa that I miss you…. Also hi mom and dad.. miss you too..
Great to hear the passage went well. Can’t wait to hear all the details! Molly
Living vicariously through your posts. Hope my nephew, Jim, is enjoying the adventure.
I’m pretty sure he is …. with the exception of the seasickness, which I’ve experienced firsthand a few times, and it’s hard to enjoy much until it ends.
Hugs for my friend Mehdi!! Miss you !!
Glad to hear you made it through the strait. Keep us posted when you can, Dwight.
Love Mom and Dad
Good to hear from you! Jaxon has given a history report on the Antarctic
to the 4th grade. He is in a history club. He will be giving it again on Saturday to a panel of judges.
Hope you didn’t get too sea sick.
Thanks for the update, Dwight. I can’t wait to see the pics. Happy Valentine’s Day, my love.
