The kayak team finished their last paddle in Antarctica in the most spectacular fashion. We managed to paddle the little visited North West Coast of the Melchior Islands and weave ourselves through the maze of sea stacks that so rarely are visited by kayakers. We found a narrow channel of sea ice and experienced what it is like to “portage” our kayaks over the sea ice as distant seals watched on. We enjoyed a last moment of silence on the water before boarding Spirit for the final time before tackling the Drake, so grateful and so happy with our kayaking adventure at the end of the world.
