We’re on day 9 of the most perfect kayaking conditions imaginable. We
transited through Peltier Channel and found a shallow cove still frozen
over with sea ice that our captain skillfully anchored Spirit to for the
night. We launched kayaks straight off the fast ice and explored the
shallow waters near Port Lockroy; spending half an hour listening to the
strange and other-worldly sounds of sleeping Weddell seals was a
highlight none of us will soon forget.
